Some helmet manufacturer’s face shield removal systems are great; pull down on a tab or two and off the shield comes. Other manufacturer’s systems aren’t quite so good. Some lead owners to scour the internet for how-to guides, while others set about them with crow bars and lump hammers. A quick-release shield is pretty damn useful though – go for even a modest ride in winter or the height of summer and pulling off the shield for a clean is really necessary. It’s also useful if you’re off for a ride in bright sunshine and want to quickly swap your clear for a dark shield. So, if you’re after a crash helmet where the shield’s really easy to remove & replace, you might want to check out one of the helmets below.
