Shark are a French company based in Marseilles, who've been making motorcycle crash helmets for around 25 years. They produce a pretty wide range of helmets and have sponsored some high profile bike racers to promote their helmets - past names include Foggy and Troy Corser - and current riders including Tom Sykes and Johann Zarco. In recent years, Shark has regularly been placed in the top half of our Top 10 Safest Helmet Brands list - meaning, if you've not got time to do the research, you can generally put your faith in a Shark helmet. Modular/Flip-up Shark Helmets
Flip-up helmets - or rather flip-over helmets in Shark's case - have become a bit of a Shark speciality in recent years, with their modular helmets featuring chin bars that flip round to the back of the helmet giving a combination of great safety levels and a real open-face riding experience. Shark offers some of the most innovative full face helmets out there - including helmets with real style (Spartan) and helmets with built in LEDs (Skwal) for style and safety. Shark Track and Sportsbike Helmets
Like many serious sportsbike or track helmet brands, Shark develops its track lids using feedback from it's pro rider sponsorship programme. It includes riders in MotoGP and WSBK and Shark's Race R Pro GP FIM helmet is homologated by the FIM for use in world series motorcycle racing.
Lower Price Shark Helmets
Our lower priced Shark helmets section shows Sharks that can be bought for $200 or less. Even though they don't cost much money and they'll probably be polycarbonate, you can get some great features for the money, including sun visors and Pinlock anti-fog inserts in the box.
Best Protecting Shark Helmets
Shark has a great reputation for making some of the best protecting helmets out there with their SHARP tested helmets typically scoring four stars or more. Where an ECE Shark helmet has scored four or five stars in the SHARP test, you'll find them listed below. Unfortunately Shark doesn't get their DOT helmets Snell tested so use this section for information only on ECE helmets.
