Here you’ll find some of the safest crash helmets we’ve looked at.
That’s helmets that have been highly rated for safety by SHARP, an independent crash helmet safety test funded and run by the UK government that puts ECE 22.05/06 approved helmets through more rigorous testing to give motorcycle helmets a safety score between 1 (worst) and 5 (best) stars. The SHARP test is a bit like the Snell test, but is arguably more real-world focused.
Remember, because SHARP tests are conducted in the UK, they test ECE certified helmets (not DOT) so we give SHARP data for information only as ECE helmets may be different from the DOT helmets sold in the US, even if they have the same name.
Whether you prefer either Snell or SHARP, both tests put a range of helmets through identical tests so you can see their comparative performances. Check out what’s involved in SHARP helmet testing here.
All the ECE versions of the helmets on these pages scored either 4 or 5 stars when SHARP tested them.
