AGV is an Italian manufacturer - started by accountant Gino Amisano in 1947 (AGV stands for Amisano Gino Valenza) - and bought out by Dianese in 2007. They make a range of good quality mid to high end helmets - as shown by their excellent rankings in our safest crash helmet brands page where we include helmets that are Snell approved or highly rated in the SHARP helmet testing scheme.Latest AGV Helmet Reviews & Previews
AGV makes some terrific full face helmets. Their range includes several carbon fiber shelled lids as well as composite and lower priced thermoplastic helmets. They've a great reputation for making protective helmets too - if the number of 4 and 5 star SHARP rated ECE helmets are to go by (AGV don't do Snell :-(.
Modular/Flip-up AGV Helmets
From the AGV Sport Modular that's designed to work with lean-forward sportsbikes, to the more all-rounder Compact ST, AGV makes some quality modular helmets with a great reputation for making strong chin bars (exactly what you need in a flip-front helmet!).
Full Face AGV Helmets
Most of AGV's range of full face helmets have been developed alongside their racing division. Which means not only that they share a common look that's sporty and pointy, but they're designed to cut through the air, giving good aero and stability on both road and track. Here's all the AGV full face helmets we've looked over...
Adventure, Dual Sport and Motocross AGV Helmets
AGV makes some nice crossover helmets including the AX range which are quality and versatile on- and off-road helmets.
Sportsbike and Track AGV Helmets
AGV has made helmets for some of the biggest MotoGP stars out there including Valentino Rossi, Giacomo Agostini and Joan Mir. Their sportsbike helmets have been developed on the track and include FIM homologated racing helmets.
Budget Priced AGV Helmets
AGV might be a quality brand but they do make some more entry level helmets. Here's a selection of AGV's budget helmets.
Best Protecting AGV Helmets*
All AGVs on sale in the US are DOT certified so should give a decent minimum level of protection. Unfortunately, to date, AGV doesn't get their DOT helmets Snell tested so we've had to look over to Europe and the SHARP helmet testing labs for data. Where an AGV helmet has scored either four or five stars over there, you'll find it below. But note: this is based on ECE helmet tests so may not be directly relevant to US DOT AGV's so is for information only.
